South Whitehall Twp to have holiday light show Dec. 18, 19

South Whitehall Township’s annual Tree and Bridge Lighting event will look different this year but is sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone, the township is hosting its first drive-through lighting 6-9 p.m. Dec. 18 and 19 in Covered Bridge Park.

The entire park will be decorated and drivers and passengers can drive through to enjoy a unique light display with the grand finale of seeing their decorated “Adopt-a-Tree’ trees and going through the lighted Covered Bridge.

Santa Claus and other special surprises will be seen throughout the park.

This event is free and open to the public, although a donation box will be available.

All proceeds will support future park and recreation programming in the township.

Vehicles need to enter at the township’s temporary yard waste drop-off site at 2200 Wehr Mill Road.

Take Huckleberry Road or Iron Bridge Road to Wehr Mill Road when arriving.

No buses will be allowed.

On Dec. 18, the Parkland C.A.R.E.S. Food Pantry will also be a part of this event collecting items for those in need.

The pantry’s most needed items are: peanut butter and jelly (no glass), and canned Ravioli and Spaghetti O’s.

To donate, have the items in bags in the vehicle’s trunk.

Volunteers will remove the donated items, so visitors do not have to get out of the vehicle.

On Dec. 19, The Salvation Army will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children in need this holiday season.
