David R. Westenhoefer, formerly of Kempton, died Dec. 6, 2020, in The Legacy House Hospice, Ocala, Fla.
He lived in the Kutztown and Kempton, for many years.
Born in 1958, in Sea Girt, N.J., he was the fifth child of the late Margaret and William Westenhoefer.
A 1976 graduate of the former Lehigh County Vocational Technical School, he was a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker for many years, often working with family members on a variety of new and existing home projects.
He was the owner of Mica-made Custom Cabinetry and Furniture, Wescosville.
A skilled craftsman, his handy work can be seen in multiple structures around the Lehigh Valley.
He was a kindhearted lover of animals, and kept a variety of pets including foxes, ferrets, parrots, raccoons and cats.
His survivors include a son, Brandon, of New York; brother Bryan Westenhoefer and his wife, Judy, of Kutztown; sisters Barbara Rossnagel and her husband, Jim, of Collegeville, and Marda Smith of Pennsburg; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Mark.
A private memorial gathering will be held in summer 2021.
Contributions in his name may be made to a local animal shelter or hospice.
