The Steelworkers’ Archives rain or shine walking tours will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 27 at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way. Tours start and leave from the National Museum of Industrial History outdoor plaza, 602 E. Second St. There is free parking in the lot across the street from the museum.
Former steelworkers will lead one-hour sidewalk tours through the Bethlehem Steel plant site. Steelworker guides will speak about the remaining buildings on the plant site, life in the ethnic neighborhoods surrounding the plant and what life was like working at the plant, and end with a question-and-answer session.
The Hoover-Mason Trestle is currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 situation. There is a cost, but the tour is free for ages 12 and under. Scheduling for the six guests per tour limit is available online by visiting www.steelstacks.org or call the Steelworkers’ Archives at 610-861-0600. Guests should maintain social distancing; face masks are required.
