Stephen W. Saganowich Jr., 88, of Hokendauqua, died Dec. 2, 2020, at Whitehall Manor.
Born in North Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Stephen W. Sr. and Anna (Kovalchick) Saganowich.
He attended Whitehall High School.
He was a tailor and head fitter in the men’s department for 49 years for the former Bon-Ton (Hess’s) Department Store, Allentown, before he retired in 1997.
He was a lifelong member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church (formerly St. Andrews Catholic Church), North Catasauqua.
He was a member of both the Hokendauqua and Catasauqua American Legions and of the Hokendauqua Fire Company.
In his earlier years, he coached youth baseball for Hokendauqua and Northwestern. He volunteered to work with the 10-yard chains at the Whitehall High School football games for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen W. III and his wife Larissa of Germansville and Daniel I. and his wife Lara of Kingston, Ontario; a brother, Francis “Fritz” Saganowich and his wife Dawn of Whitehall; a sister, Jean and her husband Philip Wavrek of Whitehall; five grandchildren, Anastasiya, Emma, Jack, Quinn and Claire; nieces; and nephews.
