Ray Emil Tremba
Ray Emil Tremba, 84, a longtime Egypt resident, died Nov. 30, 2020, at Sacred Heart Assisted Living, Northampton. He was the husband of the late Cecilia R. (Hammer) Tremba for 47 years.
Born in Egypt, he was a son of the late Michael Tremba and Mary (Polansky) Tremba.
He was a Class of 1954 Whitehall High School graduate and was a pitcher for the high school baseball team. He earned an associate degree in mechanical drafting from Penn State University.
He was in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, where he was a pitcher for the Fort Sill, Oklahoma, baseball team.
He was a draftsman for Mack Trucks at their world headquarters, Allentown. He retired from Mack in 1998 after working for 32 years.
He was a lifelong member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Whitehall, where he was a member of the church council.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and of the Coplay Saengerbund. He was a longtime member and past president of the Slovak Club.
He was a pitcher for the Egypt Aces and Coplay Legion team which won the state championship in 1954.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy A. Savare and her husband Richard of Ocean Twsp., N.J., and Patricia A. Tremba-Schroth and her husband Matthew of San Mateo, Calif.; a son, Matthew T. and wife Kelli of North Whitehall Township; a brother, Edward and his wife Maryann of Salisbury Township; seven grandchildren, Jack, Ty, Olivia, Nicholas, Trey, Ella and Teagan; and a companion, Lucy Messinger of Schnecksville.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Kleibscheidel.
Services are private. There are plans for a future celebration when restrictions are lifted.
