Gayle M. Vargas, 65, of Whitehall and formerly of Reading, died Dec. 3, 2020, in her residence. She was the wife of Steve G. Vargas.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Earl C. and Gladys M. (Strunk) Smith.

She was a Class of 1973 graduate of Wilson High School, West Lawn.

She was employed by the Lehigh County Court administrative office for more than 30 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Nicole A. and her husband Michael Stover of Elkins Park, Amanda L. and her husband David Phillips of Springfield, Va., and Stephanie L. and her husband Eric Lambert of Nazareth; grandchildren, Amelia and Harrison Stover, J. Coulson and Ander Phillips and Micayla and Quinn Lambert; three brothers, E. Charles Smith and his wife Rhea of Denver, Pa., Robert C. Smith and his wife Roberta of West Lawn and Michael C. Smith and his wife Sandra of West Lawn; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be private.

Contributions may be made to the Aneurysm and AVM Foundation at taafonline.org in honor of Johbis Keita, her great-nephew who was lost to AVM.
