Salisbury school board meetings planned for Dec. 2

I had a little adventure since I last wrote to you. About two weeks ago, my appendix burst and I had an appendectomy. This is not something I would recommend to friends or even wish on a worst enemy.
The surgery recovery itself wasn’t that bad, but because my appendix burst, I was pumped full of very strong antibiotics to clear out any infection. That is when the nausea set in and didn’t leave until I was off the antibiotics a week later.
I was feeling pretty miserable and complaining to a friend how I hated these antibiotics. Her response was, “Hmmm, I think they saved your life.” Sometimes it takes a good friend to keep things in perspective.
This Thanksgiving I was truly thankful to be alive. I am also extremely thankful for the doctors, nurses and my husband who took care of me when I was not very pleasant to be around.
There is a funny/weird side to this story. Two months ago my mother had her appendix removed at the age of 82, a week later, my niece who was 7 months pregnant at the time, had her appendix removed. They say things come in threes, but I didn’t realize that included people in the same family getting appendicitis. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
There is a virtual school board reorganization meeting to be held 7 p.m. Dec. 2 with a regular school board meeting to follow 7:30 p.m. Register for the meetings via the website at www.salisburysd.org.
The Salisbury Township Department of Public Works has four crews collecting leaves on both sides of the township. This will continue through mid-December as they make multiple trips through the township. The routes are noted on the township website at www.salisburytownshippa.org.
The Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners has a vacancy on the Environmental Advisory Council. If you are interested in filling this vacancy, you will need to download and complete the application from the township website and submit it, with a resume and references to the township manager.
Salisbury Township drop-off centers are open on alternating weeks. Franko is open the week of Nov. 30 and Devonshire, the week of Dec. 7. The centers are open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Please note: Dec. 12 is the last day the centers will be open this year.
