STUDENT PROFILE-Justin Yearwood, Freedom HS/BAVTS

Grade: 12

Family members: I have four family members. My identical twin brother Jonathan, my older brother Tyrel, my mom Cindy, and my dad Henry.

Favorite subject(s): My favorite subjects are math and physical education. I like these two subjects because it’s challenging and requires endurance. Despite the two areas being hard, it’s my goal to see it through to the end. When I pass these classes I feel a great amount of joy knowing that I did my best.

Activities: I do my homework and help around the house.

Next steps: I would like to go to a community college and get a degree in something so I could fall back on just in case. After that, I would like to continue in masonry and see where that takes me.

Career goals: My career goal is to find a steady job that has decent pay and doesn’t take too much time away from my family and the things important to me.

Heroes: My hero is my God and friend Jehovah. I can’t be silent about this because he had a tremendous impact on my life. He has helped me through tough times situations and helped me do things that I thought were impossible.

Hobbies: I absolutely love spending time with my family, hanging out with my twin brother, listening to music, and playing music. Also, video games come in handy as well.

Current job(s): None at the moment. However, I have worked at the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School summer construction house project.

Volunteer/community work: I’ve done community service at America On Wheels Museum. This was a fun experience since my twin also did this with me.

Likes: I like music, food, nature, and Star Wars.

Dislikes: I dislike peer pressure and putting myself in a position that endangers my life unnecessarily.

Greatest accomplishment (so far): My greatest accomplishment was getting the job at the BAVTS house project. I was so happy when I got the job and even more happy getting experience and my first paycheck ever!

Advice for peers: My advice is to never be afraid of who you are. You can do amazing things when you endure and strive to become something great. Seek counsel and help from those whom you trust because life throws so many struggles on you. When you keep going despite the hardships and sorrows you will see satisfying results in due time. So, never give up. Do your best in all things and become who you want to be.
