District News: Kindergarten registration will start soon

Whitehall-Coplay School District has announced the kindergarten registration process for enrolling eligible children for the 2021-22 academic year is starting soon. Parents/guardians may begin the process Jan. 11, 2021. The child must be 5 years old before Sept. 1, 2021.

The registration process will be done entirely online this year. Below are the steps to register your child.

• Visit whitehallcoplay.org and click on Enrollment.

• Follow all directions to complete the online registration, including uploading all required documents. The required documents for kindergarten registration include proof of birth (your child’s birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate or notarized parent statement); child’s immunization record; proof of residency (signed rent lease agreement if you rent, deed or 2021 real estate tax bill if you own, Whitehall/Coplay moving permit or 2020 per capita tax bill and current utility bill), bank statement or billing statement; and parent/guardian photo identification.

• You will receive an email from Michelle Khouri, district registrar, confirming your child’s registration and if any other information is needed.

For any questions regarding registration, email Khouri at khourim@whitehallcoplay.org.

The underclassmen yearbook retake picture day is rescheduled for Dec. 8 (A-L or Cohort 1), Dec. 9 (learn from home) and Dec. 10 (M-Z or Cohort 2) in the Whitehall High School LGI. If a student attends in-person school, they will have a picture taken during the school day.

All freshmen, sophomores and juniors who would like to have retakes must bring their original packages with them.

If a student is an underclassman and has not had a picture taken, they must then have a picture taken, even if they have no intention of purchasing the photographs.

The picture will not appear in the 2021 yearbook and the student will not receive an updated school ID if the student fails to be photographed Dec. 8, 9 or 10.

All freshmen, sophomores and juniors who would like to purchase picture packages can do so online. If a student would like to purchase the photographs using the traditional form, they can be found on the counter in the WHS main office.

Any questions can be directed to derlunasl@whitehallcoplay.org.

If a student needs to take medication during the school day, the medication dispensing form will need to be completed and signed by both a parent/guardian and a doctor. No medication will be administered in school without the completed form. Copies of this form are available from the nurse and also the district website, whitehallcoplay.org.

Both prescription and over-the-counter medicines (Tylenol, Motrin, etc.) must have a physician’s order to be given during the school day.

A parent/guardian should give medication before or after school hours if at all possible. If a child must receive medication during school, the medicine must be sent in the original container labeled with the child’s name and given to the nurse by an adult.

Contact the school nurse with any questions.
