Special to The Press
This photographer’s wife was surprised to find an uninvited guest joining us for an evening dinner recently.
The bird appears to be a Cooper’s hawk taking advantage of the squirrels that gather under a bird feeder in the front yard.
We do not live in rural Lehigh County, but in South Whitehall’s Parkway Manor.
Bracketed by Broadway and Tilghman Street, one wonders why a hawk would be so close in a busy suburb.
This Cooper's hawk caught a hapless squirrel on Windsor Drive, South Whitehall. The hawk seemed oblivious to this photographer except when he approached within 6 feet. PRESS PHOTO BY LOU WHEELAND
