School board approves appointments to clubs, retirements

At the virtual Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting Oct. 12, board members approved several personnel changes.

At the virtual WCSB meeting held Nov. 9, school board members approved additional personnel changes.

In addition to Whitehall-Coplay School District Superintendent Dr. Lorie Hackett, approved retirements include Virgil DeGarmo and Robert Becker, school bus drivers; Michele Abraham, secretary to the supervisor of buildings and grounds; and Diane Heintzelman, special education teacher at Whitehall High School.

Approved resignations include Maryrose Bowen, health room assistant at WHS.

New appointments include temporary professionals Courtney Dragovits, nurse at WHS, and Jordan Horsley, emotional support teacher at Zephyr Elementary School, both at $51,048; salaried substitutes Michelle Lindenmuth, virtual teacher at Gockley Elementary School, and Stephanie Steinberg, virtual teacher at Zephyr Elementary, both at $51,048; Samuel Achonu, district office financial accountant, at $45,000; Mary Shelor, nurse assistant at WHS, at $25 per hour; paraprofessional Nicole Morber, reading at Steckel Elementary School, at $18.44 per hour; Lillian Miller, second-grade learning support at Steckel Elementary, at $19.59 per hour; Delores Zadzora, fourth- and fifth-grade emotional support at Zephyr, at $18.44 per hour; Michelle Frye, sixth-grade inclusion at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School, at $18.44 per hour; and Donna Gaetaniello, emotional support at Steckel, at $19.59 per hour.

New coach appointments include Jeff Brosky, Eric Dogmanits and Corey Frantz, boys basketball assistant coaches, all at $4,225; Andrew Koefer and James Luchansky, boys basketball assistant coaches, volunteers; Thomas Keppel and James Price, boys basketball assistant coaches at WCMS, at $2,112.50 each; Kristen Windsor and Katrina Patterson, girls basketball assistant coaches, at $2,112.50 each; Kelly Robertson and Martin Donohue, girls basketball assistant coaches, at $4,225 each; Samantha Okeefe and Anthony Semler, girls basketball assistant coaches, volunteers; Anthony Pagan, girls basketball assistant coach at WCMS, at $4,225; Mark Freeman and David Seeloff, swimming assistant coaches, at $2,999 each; Joseph Attieh, Frank Piff, Luke Roth and Noah Rex, wrestling assistant coaches, volunteers; Doug Bonshak and Ryan Heimbach, wrestling assistant coaches, at $3,954 each; and Frank Rudolph and Shane Schmeckenbecker, wrestling assistant coaches, at $1,977 each.

Approved club/extracurricular advisers for the 2020-21 school year include David Wacker, Engineering Club at WHS, at $700; Jessie Bucchin, Fellowship of Christian Athletes at WHS, at $700; and Frank Piff, yearbook at Zephyr, at $550. Also approved was Amy Shoup, WHS department leader for guidance, at $1,729.

Approved teacher induction participants for the 2020-21 school year include Stephanie Trumbauer, mentor to Jordan Horsley; and Valerie Reno, mentor to Courtney Dragovits, at $650 each.

A reorganization meeting will be held 5 p.m., followed by a special school board meeting 5:15 p.m., Dec. 7. The next school board meeting will be 7 p.m. Dec. 14. Committee meetings on operations/transportation, finance/personnel and education/student activities will be held 4 p.m. Dec. 21.
