LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Group works to ‘Keep Catty Kids Warm’

The Catasauqua Community Cares Program (C3P) held a heartwarming event Nov. 7 at the Catasauqua Area School District Administration Building, 201 N. 14th St. It was a winter wear distribution effort called “Keep Catty Kids Warm.”

Lois Reed, C3P leader and CASD business supervisor, expressed gratitude for all the donations provided by the community for this event to help children and families.

Reed and other volunteers were on hand to assist those who came in for coats, hats and gloves. People of all ages attended. The happy faces of the young children receiving garments were priceless.

Reed and her team exuded compassion and a spirit for helping others. She noted they also run a lunch distribution at Catasauqua schools every Friday.

C3P is operated by volunteers within the Catasauqua schools, the district administration and community volunteers.

Marilyn Bansamer was accompanied by her mother and great-grandmother. When they entered the hall containing the clothing, Marilyn spotted a tiger hat with a scarf and mittens attached.

According to her great-grandmother, Sharon Reph, she forgot all about a coat. Marilyn went home happily wearing the tiger hat/scarf/mitten combo.

If a child arrived at the event and found a coat but it did not fit, the C3P contributors took it upon themselves to get that garment in the size the child needed through donations and/or purchases.

If you want to join this important group or want to donate, visit the C3P Facebook page.
