Dean’s list is announced

The following local DeSales University students made the summer 2020 dean’s list. To qualify for dean’s list, a student must have a minimum 3.5 grade-point average on no fewer than 12 credit hours.

DeSales University, in Center Valley, is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts Salesian, Catholic university, under the leadership of the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales. Founded in 1965, the 550-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles southwest of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,500 includes undergraduate day and evening students and graduate students. DeSales has approximately 135 full-time faculty members and offers more than 40 bachelor’s degrees, 12 graduate programs and more than 20 certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines. Many of these can be completed fully online.

Students inducted into honor society

Northampton Community College’s Bethlehem campus recently held a virtual induction ceremony for its newest Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Tau Gamma Chapter members. Thirty-two inductees celebrated their academic achievements with PTK officers, alum and friends. Students invited to join PTK must have at least a 3.5 GPA and be enrolled in a degree program. PTK is the international honor society of two-year colleges.

“PTK was founded in the same year as the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918. In a time of great adversity, PTK was created to foster innovation and fellowship among academics. We are especially proud of our fall 2020 inductees and this Tau Gamma officer team that weathered the pandemic of 2020. They embody the spirit on which PTK was built and the mission of NCC,” chapter adviser Jennifer Del Quadro said.

Nino earns dean’s award

Samantha Nino, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2021, has earned the spring 2020 dean’s award for academic excellence. Nino, of Whitehall, is an molecular biology major and a graduate of Whitehall High School. Students who receive a term GPA of 3.3 or higher while completing at least three courses earn the spring 2020 dean’s award for academic excellence.
