USA Today has named Bethlehem’s Christkindlmarkt one of the best in that nation for 2020. The Best Holiday Market competition story notes, “It’s only fitting that a town named Bethlehem would have a stellar Christmas festival. This Pennsylvania town, nicknamed Christmas City, celebrates the season with an old world-style Christkindlmarkt.”
ArtsQuest Chief Operating Officer Curt Mosel responded, “ArtsQuest’s Christkindlmarkt is honored to be recognized by USA Today as one of the best authentic German holiday markets in the country, supporting the unique work of local artists and artisans, year after year. With our newly adapted outdoor layout and safety precautions in place, we are happy to be able to safely unite the community and tourists from all across the region in the Christmas City, this year, when the holiday spirit was needed most.”
While USA Today lists the best holiday markets, readers select the specific rankings by voting for their favorites. Bethlehem currently holds the sixth position. You can vote once daily through Monday, Dec. 7 at noon. USA Today will announce the rankings Dec. 18.
Christkindlmarkt is no stranger to nationwide honors. Travel + Leisure has named it one of the best in the country twice. This year is the market’s 28th year. It includes:
• Handmade works by more than 50 of the nation’s finest artisans.
• The ring-ting-tingling sounds of live Christmas music and jolly old St. Nick’s hearty laughter.
• Käthe Wohlfahrt, offering handmade ornaments, nutcrackers and collectibles from Germany.
• Cooking with St. Nicholas, via Zoom select days in November (additional ticket required).
Christkindlmarkt 2020 runs weekends until Dec. 6.
