On Nov. 21, North Catasauqua Police Department will host its first Fill a Police Trunk food drive at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.
North Catasauqua officers will be at the park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept donations of nonperishable food items and gift cards to Giant Food Store. Gift cards in the amount of either $15 or $20 will go toward purchasing Thanksgiving turkeys. The donated food will then be assembled into Thanksgiving meals for borough families in need.
Officers will deliver these meals Nov. 24.
If you are aware of a family in need this holiday, reach out to North Catasauqua Police Department.
If you would like to donate but cannot make it to the Nov. 21 food drive, call the department’s nonemergency number at 610-437-5252.
On the police department’s Facebook page, a number of recommended food items is listed. Items include canned green beans, canned corn, canned sweet potatoes, gravy, soup, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, boxed pies and bagged bread. Other nonperishable Thanksgiving favorites are welcome as well.
