Resignations noted from various boards in Lower Macungie Township

The Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners met Nov. 5.

The excavating company on Fish Hatchery Road housed in a barn requested to add an addition for office space which went before the zoning hearing board. It is a small addition and did not require much developing but needed a sewer hookup. This was approved by the commissioners.

Fire police appointments will now have swearing-in ceremonies at the township offices. This resolution was approved.

Several resignations were noted from various boards. Chuck Peters resigned from the historical commission. Greg Kapp is not seeking reappointment to the environmental advisory commission. Sharon Woodside will not seek reappointment to the audit advisory committee.

Resolution 2020-35 was approved. This resolution approves appointments to the zoning hearing board. Avery Smith was approved and his term will expire in December. William Smith was approved as an alternate with a term to expire December 2021 and Jared Hanna was also approved as an alternate with his term to expire December 2022.

Planning Director Nathan Jones said the planning commission was scheduled to meet Nov. 10 to discuss the proposed Macungie Manor.

Township Solicitor David Brooman said proposed developments are coming close to finalizing their plans. Shepherd’s Corner which includes U-Haul is ready to move forward. Mountain View Estates is completing plans to begin breaking ground soon.

Township Manager Bruce Beitel said the auction for the GMC truck resulted in the sale of the truck for $11,701. There were over 70 bids.

President Ronald W. Beitler complimented the voting situation within the township. Beitler said the voting procedures went very smoothly.
