Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association said the annual community Christmas tree-lighting and entertainment event, including the visit from Santa, has been canceled.
There will still be a decorated tree next to borough hall, and the association will have new eye-catching decorations on the grounds during the Christmas season, according to Rick Hess, association president.

Two major construction projects - one on the borough’s south end and the second on the borough’s north end - are now in progress.
The car wash at Fifth and Hokendauqua streets is being demolished for a storage building. The car wash has been on the site for the last six decades.
The apartment complex, which straddles Coplay and Whitehall Township on North Second Street, is nearing completion. The property was formerly owned by Coplay Cement Company and has been idle for several decades.

The committee for Coplay’s 150th anniversary is preparing a booklet that will be ready for sale to the public in 2021. The booklet will have pictures and stories detailing the events it held for the 150th anniversary.
The committee is gathering sponsors for this booklet.

Although there were no special programs highlighting Veterans Day in the borough, the American flags on Chestnut Street and Second Street were flown to commemorate the holiday.
