Leaf collection has begun in Macungie

Macungie Borough leaf collection will take place the weeks of Nov. 2-6; 16-20; Nov. 30-Dec. 4 and Dec. 14-18. Leaves only will be collected curbside and should be at the curb before 7 a.m. Residents are also encouraged to drop off leaves any day or time at the newly expanded fenced area at the borough garage off South Church Street.

Macungie Borough offices are closed to the public. For information, call 610-966-2503.

Facilities at Macungie Memorial Park are open based on guidelines provided by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society. Pavilions, buildings and grounds are available for rent. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. To check availability, contact macungiepark@gmail.com or call 610-966-4289.

The following Macungie events have been canceled: Holiday Tea at the Macungie Institute and the annual Sheeprock Trek.

At this time Macungie Holiday will be limited to a parade and food trucks at Macungie Memorial Park noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 12 due to COVID-19. Events will not be held indoors.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St. offers a livestream worship service 9 a.m. Sunday mornings. Services can be found on the Grace YouTube channel www.youtube.com/c/GraceLutheranChurchMacungiePA. For more information, go to https://gracemacungie.org or www.facebook.com/GraceMacungie.

Grace Lutheran Church offers its free community meal as a drive-up option. The next meal will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Nov. 13.

Grace Lutheran Church will hold a monthly outdoor drive-up or walk-up Grace Food Cupboard Give-Away 2:30-4 p.m. Nov. 27 when anyone can fill one bag with nonperishable food. Both events take place in the parking lot; signs will be posted.

Grace Lutheran Church will prepare 120 meals for a drive-up free Thanksgiving Meal 1-2 p.m. Nov. 26. This will be held on a first come, first served basis.

Cash bingo is held weekly on Saturday evenings at Macungie Memorial Park. Doors open 4:30 p.m. and games begin 6:30 p.m. Attendance is limited to 60 people; seating is spaced for distancing. Masks are required. The kitchen is not open; coffee and drinks will be available for purchase. For more information, call 610-966-4289.

The Lower Lehigh Lions have one meeting per month on the second Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Park Memorial Hall.

The Macungie Park board of directors meeting will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 24.
