Emmaus High School names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My dad’s name is Matt, my mom’s name is Kristi and I have two younger brothers named Ben and Sam, as well as a dog named Boomer.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is definitely history. I love learning about past events from the U.S. and across the globe and I think it’s interesting to see the ways decisions made years ago can still impact the world we live in today.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I’ve made the Principal’s Honor Roll for the past three years and I was inducted into National Honor Society. Additionally, I have earned the AP Scholar Award and have reached the state level competition with the Future Business Leaders of America twice.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I’m in a few different clubs at Emmaus, like Red Cross, Future Business Leaders of America, the Academic Team and the mentor program and the pandemic has either forced clubs to cancel for the year or adapt to new challenges. I’m also working with the Wildlands Conservancy to build new trails in Macungie, an effort that hasn’t been slowed down too much by COVID-19.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I’m finding that writing college essays is a pretty arduous task. While I know the effort will pay off, answering many of the prompts within the word limit is proving to be an undertaking.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I’d like to attend college to earn a degree related to the field of international business and I hope to see the world while studying abroad or working.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. My parents, for guiding me through the challenging times. They’ve always pushed me to do my best and have taught me to take pride in my work. They’ve done a lot to make sure my brothers and I are prepared to succeed and I admire them for everything they’ve instilled upon me.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered as someone who was always willing to help others.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Work smarter, not harder.
