Lower Macungie Township Commissioners held a dedication ceremony at the Wescosville gateway pocket park located next to the Wawa in honor of Brent A. McNabb Oct. 17.
McNabb was a 40-year volunteer firefighter who held various leadership positions over the years.
Numerous speakers honored McNabb at the dedication including his wife and children, Lower Macungie Fire Department Chief Dave Nosal, Pastor Jim Bashear of Bethany United Methodist Church and Lower Macungie Board President Ronald W. Beitler.
“Brent had service in his genes. He exemplified the idea of an everyday hero. A neighbor who always stood ready to lend a helping hand to others,” Beitler said.
Scouts from Pack 431 were on hand to present the colors and lead attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Fittingly, Pack 431 has historic ties to the Cub Scout Pack McNabb belonged to when he was a boy.
McNabb died unexpectedly Dec. 31, 2019. He was 59.
