PRESS PHOTO BY JIM MARSH Volunteer firefighters at Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company devise a way to make the organization's annual Halloween candy giveaway COVID-19 safe. Hollow cores from commercial carpet rolls were cut down for use as chutes, allowing young neighborhood ghosts, goblins and superheroes to fill their candy bags and buckets from a COVID-safe distance. Many neighborhood parents commended the firefighters on the imaginative approach to their neighborhood's annual Halloween trick or treat night.
