With all the events in Catasauqua, the one that always warms the heart is the Fossil’s Land Stand annual chili cook-off. The eighth annual event is set for 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at the restaurant, 429 Race St.

The amateur cooks take their crocks filled with chili and special seasoning over to the buffet for tasters to enjoy. The tasters then use their tickets to vote for their favorites.

Each guest gets only five tickets. At the end of the event, the tickets are totaled and the winner is announced.

Winners will be named around 6:30 p.m. First prize is $100, second prize is a $50 gift card, and third prize is a $25 gift card.

Proceeds are given to Feline Urban Rehab and Rescue and No Kill of the Lehigh Valley.

There is a Chinese auction for more prizes.
