Board reviews bond for construction

Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners met Nov. 2 to review the monthly workshop agenda. The meeting was broadcast virtually via Webex and ran very short as there were only two ordinances and one motion up for discussion.

The first bill of the evening requested a general obligation bond of $8,700,000 for the township. This money will be allocated to township-related projects, such as the construction of the new police station and renovations of township facilities and grounds. This was the second hearing on the bill, and no additional feedback was given.

The meeting continued with Bill 32, which reviewed the official zoning map of Whitehall Township. The bill requests the rezoning of a 31.65-acre parcel from R-1, very low-density residential, to C2-A, local commercial zoning. There were no additional comments made by commissioners.

The evening ended with a motion that would approve the release of escrow for completed and withdrawn projects, as per Deputy Mayor Jack Meyers. The commissioners did not have any additional comments to add to the motion.

The board will meet again 7 p.m. Nov. 9 to vote on the matters discussed. Visit Whitehall Township’s website, whitehalltownship.org, and follow the links provided to attend the meeting virtually.
