Pedestrian dies
A New York man was struck and killed on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension in Lower Milford Township at approximately 4:38 a.m. Oct. 15.
In a media release from the County of Lehigh Office of the Coroner and Forensics Center the deceased was identified as Michael Quimby, 37, of Cato, N.Y.
Quimby was pronounced dead 6:55 a.m. Oct. 15 at the accident scene by Deputy Coroner Jack Fliter.
In a media release Pennsylvania State Police described the incident as follows:
At approximately 4:40 a.m. Oct. 15, state troopers from the King of Prussia barracks were notified of a male walking in and out of traffic near mile marker 46.4. The male was struck by several vehicles. He died at the scene.
All traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension was detoured onto the Quakertown exit, according to state police.
Pennsylvania State Troopers from Troop T King of Prussia, Troop T Pocono, Troop M Forensics Services Unit, Fogelsville Criminal Investigation Unit and Fogelsville Patrol Unit also responded.
The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, according to the coroner’s office.
