During the Oct. 15 Lower Macungie Board of Commissioners meeting, the board recognized longtime resident and volunteer Donald Denburg who was recently the traffic impact fee advisory committee chairman. Denburg died Sept. 30 at the age of 84.
Robert Rust submitted a letter regarding Denburg which was read before the board. “Mr. Denburg provided intellect and was a successful part in the conversion of Lower Macungie Township to become a First Class Township.” There was a time of silence in his memory during the meeting.
In other business, Fred Zahradnik has expressed his desire to not seek reappointment to the environmental advisory council.
Planning Director Nathan Jones requested approval of Resolution 2020-33 for the security release for Spring Creek Properties Lot 2. This is the property that includes the St. Luke’s medical offices. This was approved.
Leaf collection within the township was slated to begin Oct. 19. Leaves should be in the street as weekly pickup begins.
The crossing guard agreement with East Penn School District will not continue as it was. There is no more cost sharing between the township and the district. The township is awaiting word from the district regarding this.
