The District 11 volleyball tournament gets underway this week with all three Bethlehem schools aiming for their shot at district gold.
Bethlehem Catholic enters the postseason with the best odds of taking home a title in the 3A bracket, as they enter as the top-seed.
The Hawks open action on Oct. 29 against the winner of the four-five matchup between Pottsville and Jim Thorpe.
At the bottom of the bracket, second-seeded Southern Lehigh takes on seventh-seeded Northwestern, as the Spartans are the favorite to reach the final in a likely matchup against the Hawks.
Blue Mountain and Lehighton are the other matchup in the bracket in a three-six pairing.
The semifinals and championship round will take place sometime next week.
In 4A, Liberty and Freedom will face each other right off the bat at 5 p.m. Thursday, as the third-seeded Patriots host the sixth-seeded Hurricanes in the opening round.
Freedom won both encounters over Liberty last week in their season finales, winning six out of seven games heading into the district opener.
The winner of Thursday’s matchup will face either second-seeded Parkland or seventh-seeded Pocono Mountain East.
The top half of the bracket features top-seeded Pocono Mountain West facing eighth-seeded Stroudsburg and fourth-seeded Emmaus going against fifth-seeded Pleasant Valley.
The semifinal and championship rounds will take place next week at dates and times to be announced.
