Another Bethlehem holiday wrestling tournament won’t go on this December as the Tony Iasiello Memorial Christmas City Tournament is canceled this year.
Bethlehem Catholic’s mainstay tourney over the past 53 seasons will take a year off due to the coronavirus pandemic, joining Liberty’s Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic as the two biggest tourneys in the area that are postponed this season.
The cancellation of these two tourneys coincides with the likes of the Walsh Jesuit Ironman and the Beast of the East, as individual tournaments that are postponed this season.
The first official date for winter sports practices are November 20, roughly a month from now, and there hasn’t been any word of the winter season being canceled or postponed as of yet.
Bethlehem Catholic is scheduled to participate in the Escape the Rock tournament on January 16-17, but that event is likely to be canceled as well.
Liberty is still slated to take part in the Boyertown Duals on December 12, but that probably won’t take place either.
Freedom’s Battle at Bethlehem tournament is scheduled for Dec 12 as well, but nobody knows how the winter schedule is going to look a month from now.
