Over 75 volunteers spent the weekend of Oct. 10 and 11 sprucing up the South Side Greenway and Third and Fourth street environs by painting, picking up litter and planting flowers and greenery to beautify the Southside Arts District. The effort was coordinated by Missy Hartney, downtown manager of the Arts District, and CADC Bethlehem provided nursery items for planting.

Clean-up #2: Volunteers received a pair of work gloves and a volunteer badge for identification, as well as the supplies needed.

Clean-up #4: Sisters Kelly and Katelyn Phung painted a planter on South New Street near the Greenway. Residents of the South Side, they attend Freedom HS and said that they like to help the community. Kelly is a freshman and Katelyn is a senior.
Clean-up #5: Girl Scouts from Troop 8709 in Bethlehem work on planting flowers and small shrubs at the intersection of Webster and East Fourth streets. The troop has been in involved in other community service including ac skate park clean-up and rain garden installation at the Camels Hump farm.
Clean-up #6: Bethlehem resident Jillian Krill gives a bollard along East Fourth Street a fresh coat of paint. Krill said she volunteered after learning about the project on Instagram.
Clean-up #7: Pat's Newsstand owner Irene Skelly plants a small shrub in a planter outside her business along South New Street. She has owned the business for 45 years and thought she'd pitch in to beautify the South Side.
