Anne R. Brennan Bear, 97, formerly of Northampton, Hokendauqua and Allentown, died Sept. 25, 2020. She was the wife of the late Francis R. Bear and the late Thomas J. Brennan.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rosina (Lang) Taus. She was a Class of 1941 Allentown Central Catholic High School graduate and a Class of 1944 graduate of Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing.

She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in both Allentown and Norristown. She later was an insurance nurse and provided physicals to applicants.

She was a participant in the Harvard University study on the longevity of the life of nurses. She was a member of the Cadet Nurses Corp.

She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay, and formerly attend Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena, Allentown.

She is survived by three grandsons, Michael Cawthray, Richard Cawthray and his wife Ruth and William Cawthray Jr. and his wife Betty Ann; a granddaughter, Mary Alyce Cawthray; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Laura Ellen Cawthray; four daughters, Ellen Brennan, Mary Cawthray and her husband William, Anne Meier and her husband Donald and Rose Taus; and three brothers, John Taus and his wife Stella and Charles and Joseph Taus.

There will be a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at St. Peter’s, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay.
