Bethlehem Catholic’s girls’ soccer team trained all year under head coach Angelo Amato, and that included indoor winter soccer, spring zoom training, and summer fitness training at almost 100 percent participation.
“We have a very young but incredibly talented group of players that seemed to come out of nowhere,” Coach Amato said, “and we have several returning players that are dedicated to grooming the underclassmen for success.”
Key returning players are junior center midfielder, Teighan Boyle, and sophomore defenders, Emily Pepe and Ashley Zuniga, along with seniors, center mid Sarah Knoble, defender Bella Faasuamalie, and midfielder Kelby McNally.
“Marcela Banuelos is a senior attacker who is going to make a difference regardless of position. She has worked incredibly hard and is ready to have a breakout year,” said Amato. “Junior, Erin Pfeiffer, has earned the title of striker because she has proven that her primary goal is to score goals.
“We are building a stronger and more successful program starting now, so expect to see some very skilled freshman on the pitch.”
They are Summer Hill, Gaby Mutis, Mackenzie Davis, Maddie Nichelson, Kimberly Zuniga, and Jianna Brown.
“Sophomore goalie Gabby Amato is a very tough player and she will be throwing her body at everything that comes at her, but this very strong and powerful defense might not let many attackers through,” Coach Amato said.
Teighan Boyle returns for the Hawks this year.
