Joseph (“Joe”) Szabo, of Lower Macungie Township, celebrated his centennial birthday Sept. 20.

A long-time resident of Easton, Szabo is a World War II veteran and Bethlehem Steel retiree. He has always been mechanically inclined, dedicating much time and patience over the years to fixing and figuring out how things work.

Szabo enjoys spending time with his family – especially his two grandsons – and loves to take his mechanical scooter out for a neighborhood stroll on a sunny day.

There is no doubt that Szabo’s secret to longevity is his years of hard work, tough mindset, drive to stay as independent as possible, and above all else, the unfailing love he has for his family each and every day.
