Coplay book marks 150th anniversary

Coplay Borough marked its 150th anniversary with a yearlong celebration in 2019.

Events included a visit from Lt. Gov. John Fetterman at the American Club of Coplay pavilion, a gala, a parade, a daylong festival at Balliet Stadium with the release of 150 lighted lanterns and a fireworks display that drew more than 5,000 people, a pub crawl and a closing celebration at Coplay Saengerbund.

All of these celebratory events will be included in a 150th celebration commemorative book. The 175-page, hard-cover book will also include a DVD with highlights from the various events.

The deadline to purchase a book is Oct. 20.

All local and surrounding area businesses, civic groups, organizations and residents can become sponsors for the book. Sponsors can include a photo and logo, which will appear exactly as printed on the order form.

Forms can be sent or picked up Monday through Friday at the borough office, 98 S. Fourth St.

Checks must be made payable to the borough.

The deadline to become a sponsor in the book is also Oct. 20.

There is additional Coplay merchandise available for purchase as well. The borough has “Coplay 150th” and “Little Town That Could” shirts and hoodies available. The clothing is buy one, get one free. There are limited sizes available.
