Catasauqua: Sandwich orders due Oct. 6
The Catasauqua High School band and chorus have a performance tour March 30-April 3, 2021, in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The band and chorus are selling hoagies and sandwiches from Island Expressions to help fund the trip.
This is an ongoing fundraiser. Orders go in on the first Tuesday of the month, with the next one being Oct. 6, and the orders come in the following Tuesday.

Catasauqua Garden Club next meets 1 p.m. Oct. 7 at George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets. Laurie Metz will tempt all with her show-and-tell program titled “Potherbs for Your Palate.”
Exhibits are welcome, but there is no judging. Water will be provided along with cordiality and tales of gardening successes.
Wear your masks.
Please note, rain does not dampen the spirits of gardeners; however, rain will most likely postpone the meeting.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., will hold a modified fourth annual Octoberfest event 5-8 p.m. Oct. 16 and 4:30-8 p.m. Oct. 17.
This year’s Octoberfest O’ Food will be different, with no seating, no music and no beverages, but your favorite homemade food prepared by the St. Mary’s cooks will be available. All food will be sold from the parking lot and will be packaged for takeout.
The menu will include roasted pulled pork sandwiches, smoked sausage sandwiches, bratwurst sandwiches and hot dogs. The following sides are offered: potato pancakes, pierogies, German potato salad, cabbage and spaetzle, spaetzle with butter or gravy and funnel cake.
You can preorder quarts or pints of German potato salad, spaetzle and cabbage and goulash soup. Preorder quarts and pints will be sold cold.
Preorders must be received by Oct. 5. Payment ahead of time is available but not necessary.
Mandates for mask wearing and social distancing will be enforced.
