Whitehall-Coplay School District has announced four positive cases of COVID-19, as of Sept. 23.
The newest case involves an individual at Whitehall High School. This is the second reported case in that building.
According to a letter sent to parents and guardians, “School leadership, in conjunction with local public health officials, has determined there is no need to close our school at this time. The classrooms and spaces used by the individual were cleaned and disinfected according to CDC guidelines.
“Parents/guardians of students who may have had significant contact with the individual with COVID-19 during the infectious period will be notified by [Pennsylvania] Department of Health to inform you of what to do next,” the district stated in the letter.
WCSD released information on a positive COVID-19 case at Steckel Elementary School Sept. 18.
The day before, Sept. 17, WCSD released information that an individual at Whitehall High School had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Information on the first positive case in WCSD came a week earlier, in a Sept. 8 letter, which notified parents and guardians an individual “within the district” had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
The notification did not identify if the individual was a student or a WCSD employee.
