The Coplay Public Works Department is preparing for an uptick in Friday yard waste collections. Borough personnel will continue picking up grass clippings, as well as bundles of tree branches, flower bed and vegetable garden residue and leaves, through November.
Residents are reminded not to blow leaves into the street.
There is no added fee for the Friday collections.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., has moved its Sunday polka bands from the outdoor pavilion to the indoor ballroom. Music now starts 5 p.m.

Many borough restaurants have upped their patronage with the recent change in guidelines prompted by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf. Owners say they are complying with the coronavirus guidelines, including requiring customers to wear masks.
Business is on the rebound, they said.

Although Coplay Sports Inc. had to make changes to its youth baseball programs, baseball is being played at the diamond off Sixth Street.
Families attending the games are complying with the virus guidelines. There have been no instances involving the public disregarding the virus regulations.

Looking ahead, the Christmas season has civic and religious organizations contemplating the impact virus guidelines will have on programs and services.
Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association holds its annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at an outdoor setting at borough hall in early December. The program also includes the first visit by Santa, entertainment and doughnuts and hot chocolate for the public.
