Colgate University

Quinn earns degree

Brittany Quinn, of Whitehall, is a graduate of Colgate University in the Class of 2020. Quinn, a graduate of Whitehall High School, majored in molecular biology. Quinn received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, at Colgate’s 199th commencement, which was held virtually May 17.

Colgate is a leading American university for students who want classes with rigor, faculty with passion and confidence in knowing they will learn how to thrive in work and life. Colgate offers 56 majors and supports 25 Division I athletic teams on a campus of about 3,000 students in central New York.

Students graduate

Lehigh Carbon Community College held its virtual commencement ceremony Aug. 12 on YouTube. Commencement recognized the more than 900 students who have earned associate degrees, certificates or diplomas from December 2019, May 2020 and August 2020. Graduates had the opportunity to participate in the ceremony by submitting photos that were included in the prerecorded presentation. LCCC President Dr. Ann D. Bieber presided over the ceremony and offered the welcome and remarks.

Students who graduated cum laude earned a grade-point average of 3.5-3.75. Those who graduated magna cum laude earned a GPA of 3.75-3.95. Students who graduated summa cum laude earned a GPA of 3.95-4.0.

Wilkes University

Degrees earned

Wilkes University awarded 270 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at a virtual degree conferral ceremony Sept. 12. The virtual degree conferral, livestreamed from campus, included remarks from Wilkes President Greg Cant and interim Provost Terese Wignot. A formal commencement ceremony honoring 2020 and 2021 graduates will be held in May 2021. Final plans are dependent on the guidance from national and state health officials.
