‘Music ALIVE!’ plays to sell-out fans

Pennsylvania’s Music Preservation Society’s “Music ALIVE!’ event attracted a sellout audience on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

Four- and six-person tables were sold on the PAMPS website up to the approved limit of 250 for the afternoon show held at the Farmorama outdoor theater at the Allentown Fairgrounds.

Then the same tables were sold out for the “Twilight Show” featuring the Large Flowerheads.

PAMPS Board President Jeffrey Tapler said the event received generous from local sponsors. “Service Electric was the primary sponsor, and it televised the entire event,” Tapler said. Other sponsors were Wegmans, Embassy Bank, B.F. Brown & Co., the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and Dave and Zehra Follweiler.

Tapler said the Music Preservation Society will continue to find ways to produce live and streaming programs throughout the pandemic to support struggling local musicians, and to contribute to community morale.

Visiting “royalty” Ayla Blatt, the 2019 Allentown fair queen, is joined by 2020 Bloomsburg Fair Queen Bryndil Kemler. The Great Allentown Fair was canceled this year because of the pandemic.

The Large Flowerheads band drew a capacity audience of 250 at the “Twilight” show of “Music ALIVE!” The Flowerheads showcase the music of the 60s, from the Beatles to the Jefferson Airplane and more.
The weather on Saturday of Labor Day weekend was near-perfect for the outdoor concerts, and enthusiastic music fans purchased tables that seated four to six persons in compliance with CDC pandemic guidelines.
