LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Q & A ... with Liberty lacrosse’s Mia Del Corso

Mia DelCorso will be attending Lehigh University and majoring in Prospective Chemistry.

1. Now that the news of the spring season being over has had time to sink in, what are your thoughts or emotions about not being able to play your senior year?

“Although I had a feeling that our senior season might be canceled due to the pandemic, I was still in disbelief that it truly was over. It is beyond upsetting having your senior season being taken away from you. No matter how many days I’ve had to let this new reality sink in, I’m still broken up about it.”

2. What were you looking forward to the most this season?

“This season I was especially looking forward to leading my teammates and being around them the majority of the spring. I was also really looking forward to my senior season’s practices, fundraisers, games, and senior night.”

3. What activity did you find yourself doing the most during quarantine?

“During quarantine I find myself spending a lot of time with my family, working out, playing lacrosse, playing with my dogs, and baking.”

4. What did you miss most about normal life?

“I missed being able to see my friends all of the time. Although I do love spending time with my family, I also love spending time with my friends. I also miss having that routine of going from school to practices and games.

5. If you had the choice to be stuck at home with any teammate(s) during this quarantine, who would they be and why?

“I’d be lucky enough to be stuck at home with any one of my teammates during this quarantine. They never fail to make me laugh and are all so fun to be around.”

6. Can you name your favorite movie, show or series you’ve watched over the past months?

“I’ve been watching a lot of baking shows like Cake Wars, Cupcake Wars, and Chopped. I’ve also watched Joker, the new series called Ozark and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

7. What was the worst part about being stuck at home?

“I would say the hardest part about being home is the lack of structure in my life, but I shouldn’t complain. I’m extremely grateful that the only thing I have to complain about is boredom. Many people have much more to deal with.”

8. What was the first thing you wanted to do once the quarantine is over?

“The first thing I want to do once this quarantine is over would definitely be to spend the day with my friends. It’s crazy how much I miss everyone.”

9. Can you tell your favorite sports story about yourself, your team or your teammates over the years?

“My favorite sports story about myself would be the way in which my confidence in myself grew with the help of some of the most important people in my life. In the beginning of my high school career I struggled a lot with having confidence in myself on and off the lacrosse field. I never thought I was capable of making a difference on the field. With the help of my father, my older sister, Jessica, and my coach, Mrs. Muller, I was eventually able to find confidence within myself junior year. I began to develop qualities of a leader on and off the field and I was finally able to make an impact during the game.

10. What lesson(s) have you learned throughout this whole process?

“Throughout this whole process I really learned to appreciate everything life has to offer and to never take anything for granted. I really appreciate all the hard work every health care worker is putting in. It’s really remarkable. I also appreciate everything the Liberty lacrosse program has been able to provide for me over the past couple of years and even throughout quarantine. The amount of hard work our coach, Mrs. Muller has put in to keep the team connected online during this quarantine means the world to me. I just have learned to really appreciate everybody in my life and learned that if there’s something in life that I want to pursue, I need to pursue it because life is too short and valuable.”
