Coplay Public Library: Make a storybook with your child using library materials

Help your children or grandchildren learn about the importance of wearing a mask by putting together their own storybook. This fun activity, appropriate for young readers, will also help develop children’s creative, listening and reading abilities.

We will provide you with most of the materials you need, including the storybook pages.

***

High school and middle school students, we have a selection of free books for you in the foyer and on shelves under the book return inside the library.

The books are yours to keep, pass along to friends or family, donate to another organization of your choice or recycle.

***

Storytime with Miss Janice is livestreamed on Facebook 11 a.m. every Thursday. We will also have video links for you to watch later if you cannot make it.

No registration is required.

Parents of storytime kids and preschoolers, we have idea jars for you to pick up. These activity packages are based on the book “Idea Jar” by Adam Lehrhaupt.

While you’re here, select one of the bags or bundles of free books located in the children’s area for your early reader.

***

You don’t have to leave your house to borrow books or magazines; just use the Libby app or the Overdrive website on your own devices.

Go to the library’s website, coplaypubliclibrary.org, and use your library card number and password to access Overdrive in the E-Resources tab or download the Libby app to your device. More than 14,000 e-books and audios are available.

If you need help with your password, call the library at 610-262-7351.

Due to the pandemic, all fundraising events, including book sales, have been canceled for the rest of the year.

While we are disappointed to take this action, the library based its decision on the predictions and advice of scientific experts. We cannot put Coplay and Lehigh Valley residents at additional risk in the upcoming months.

However, we have a collection of books for sale on the shelves at the circulation desk. A few CDs and DVDs are also available. The selection changes regularly.

We have a limited amount of space to quarantine donated items, so please don’t ask us to take materials that don’t meet our guidelines. You will find the guidelines on our webpage. Pay special attention to the physical condition of the materials as outlined.

We can accept three bags or boxes of materials per household. Do not put any donations in the outside book drop. This space is needed for returns, which may include materials borrowed from other libraries.

***

We are continuing curbside service for patrons who can’t wear masks or other at-risk community members.

To borrow materials, place holds directly on your account using the online catalog on the website. You can also call us at 610-262-7351 or email us at coplaypubliclibrary@gmail.com.

For further information and hours for curbside services, see our website or contact the library by phone or email.

***

All incoming materials are quarantined for four days and sanitized before being released for circulation.

***

The library is open to the public for computer use and borrowing and returning materials.

Patrons are limited to 30 minutes of computer time if someone is waiting. You may reserve a computer by calling or emailing in advance.

***

The library’s hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Everyone over the age of 2 is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the library. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer while you are in the building and when entering and leaving.

Let’s do our part to keep each other safe and healthy and stop the spread of the coronavirus!
