Special to The Press
I hope you are all doing well during this year of 2020.
At least you do not have to wear a mask to read the newspaper! I am sure we will be glad when this is all over and can say we went through a difficult year successfully.
Unfortunately, there is still no news of openings, hoagie sales, garden clubs, church activities, etc.
However, there is one item to report.
The Sunshine Center Preschool at Ziegels Union Church, is closing its doors starting with this semester.
The school has been held in the church since 1990 at the invitation of “Pastor Gene” and “Pastor David” with Pat Elliot and Diane Hemerly teaching the children from age 2 through prekindergarten.
They have been teaching for 33 years (three years at a previous location) and have taught hundreds of children how to play as they learned the basics they would need to enter school.
Pat and Diane report they loved teaching, but after 33 years and the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, they decided to retire and sing their last “Our Preschool Now Is Over.”
I want to add three of our grandsons attended the preschool, learned a lot, and loved to meet other children.
We all wish Pat and Diane much success in retirement as they pursue other activities.
God bless you both for setting the children on the right path so many years.
Mach’s gut,
