A Lynn Township farmhouse, built in 1830, was destroyed by a fire in the early morning hours of Sept. 4.
According to New Tripoli Fire Company Deputy Chief Gary Kuntz Jr., some 50 volunteer firefighters responded at 6:05 a.m. to the emergency call.
The house in the 5200 block of Frey Road is owned by the farming family of Jason and Keena Leigh Moyer.
Kuntz said no one was in the house at the time of the fire and no animals were injured.
In addition to New Tripoli firefighters, Weisenberg firefighters responded with a tanker; Germansville firefighters brought a tanker and their aerial unit; Fogelsville responded with a tanker; and Woodlawn firefighters, South Whitehall, brought their cascade unit to refill air packs.
Volunteer firefighters from Tri-Clover Fire Company, Orefield, answered the call; and Cetronia Ambulance Corps personnel brought their rehabilitation unit.
Kuntz spoke with The Press at 8:20 a.m. from the scene as he was awaiting the arrival of the state police fire marshal to conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Kuntz said the fire was still smoldering and firefighters were extinguishing hot spots.
“I want to thank everyone for their help in battling the fire,” Kuntz said.
Because the Moyers lost everything in the fire, The Nesting Box Farm Market & Creamery, Kempton, donated 10 percent of its total sales that weekend to the family.
