Volunteer opportunities available

CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Fountain Hill and Allentown, is looking to the community to help brighten the day of residents who have been unable to have visitors or social programming these past several months. Inspirational (nonreligious) cards and letters, or drawings and paintings created by youth or adults would be a welcomed addition to everyone’s day. Dedicated staff would also enjoy notes of thanks. DELAWARE & LEHIGH NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR, Bethlehem, is seeking volunteers to clerk in the Museum Gift Shop who will be responsible for assisting with sales. Abilities required include a friendly and welcoming demeanor, ability to learn point of sale system, attention to detail and communication skills. Hours based on availability and desired commitment, but we prefer minimum of a 6-hour shift on a weekly or biweekly basis. Minimum age to volunteer is 16. INDEPENDENT TRANSPORTATION NETWORK LEHIGH VALLEY provides 24/7 door- through-door ride service for seniors age 60 and over and visually impaired adults to any destination in the Lehigh Valley. In order to provide this service, we need volunteer drivers to help us with the increasing demand for rides. All rides in the Lehigh Valley only. Drive when and where you want. MEALS ON WHEELS OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Northampton County, needs drivers to deliver meals to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities. Volunteer once a week, once a month or whenever your schedule permits; we provide step-by-step directions and delivery instructions. SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK, Nazareth, has some upcoming volunteer opportunities available on the third Tuesday and Wednesday of the month (except in September it is the fourth week) through December. Shifts are 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:30 p.m. Please feel free to share with your friends and family as 20 volunteers are needed for each shift. Children 16 and over are permitted but must be supervised by a parent/guardian during the shift. Gloves and masks are required and available or bring your own. THE WHOLE LIFE CENTER, Easton, needs volunteers 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Pantry Day workers would assist with assembling boxes of food and either give to clients at the loading dock or put the boxes into their car. As activities are slowing down everything can start to be put away and cleaned up. Pantry volunteers are required to wear head covering; long hair must be pulled back or under a hat. Masks and gloves are required and will be provided or bring your own. We need at least two male volunteers to assist with unloading and reloading trucks.
