LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Promotional video being filmed around Northampton

Northampton Borough’s collection of places to visit and enjoy are taking on a new dimension. Filming has begun at various sites in the borough as part of a promotional video.

The videotaping, by the Lehigh Valley-based company Crown, has begun at historic locations in the borough, along with some privately owned businesses.

A $6,000 grant from the Northampton County Hotel Tax is funding the project.

The project, devised by the borough, anticipates a larger number of visitors will come to the borough to see its heritage and its many varied jewels that make the town unique.

Videotaping has already taken place at the Canal Street Park gazebo, Atlas Cement Company Memorial Museum, Northampton Area Historical Society’s Siegfried Railroad Station and Museum, Wilson Block House, Roxy Theater and more.

Interviews have been conducted with Northampton Borough Mayor Thomas Reenock, Atlas Cement Company Memorial Museum Curator Edward Pany and borough Manager LeRoy Brobst, as well as Larry Oberly, vice president of the NAHS.

The project is in cooperation with a county-based tourist organization. The video will be on the borough website when completed, with copies shared with other organizations. There will be no premiere or red carpet treatment since the project is a low-key effort to attract visitors.
