John A. and Sandra Ann (Tirpak) Davidyock of Bethlehem recently observed their 50th wedding anniversary.

They were married June 20, 1970, by Father Emil Sopoliga at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford, Carbon County.

The couple were high school sweethearts and graduated from Panther Valley High School in 1965 and 1966, respectively.

John graduated from Drexel University in 1970 with a degree in civil engineering. After working 30 years with PennDOT, he worked nine years at the engineering firm of McTish, Kunkle and Associates.

Sandra is a graduate of St. Luke’s University Hospital School of Nursing and has been the school’s alumni president for the past eight years.

The couple has two children, Julie Poniktera, wife of Michael Poniktera of Bath, and John M., husband of Christina Davidyock of Windermere, Fla., and four grandchildren, Amber and Wyatt Poniktera and Hailey and John Davidyock.

Sandra is the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Tirpak of Summit Hill, Carbon County.

John is the son of the late John and Elizabeth Davidyock of Lansford.
