Ada E. Hines, 85, of Walnutport, died Aug. 27, 2020, surrounded by her loving family in the home of her daughter.

She and her husband, Harvey A. “Hank” Hines, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in July.

Born Dec. 28, 1934, in Treichlers, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Ruth (Laub) Handwerk.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Slatington.

A 1952 graduate of Northampton High School, she was later a manager for the former Scotties Fashions, Palmerton, Little Gap, and Treichlers for many years until retiring.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her daughter, Diane, wife of Robert A. Schmidt, of Slatington, with whom she last resided; brother Harvey (Althea) Handwerk of Walnutport,; sister Arlene George of Walnutport; grandchildren Eric (Jennifer) Deibert and Vicki (Alan Leone) Ayers; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by siblings Louis, Victor Jr., and Arthur Handwerk, Verna Smith and Mildred Strohl-Voortman.

There will be a private graveside funeral service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Allentown. The Rev. William A. Hines will officiate.
