Fire crews from Lower Macungie, Western Salisbury and Trexlertown fire departments were dispatched to the 4000 block of Azalea Road, Lower Macungie Township, at approximately 9:30 pm Aug. 28 for a reported dwelling fire.
Lehigh County 911 dispatched firefighters to a fire in an attached garage.
Lower Macungie Fire Chief Dave Nosal was first on the scene and confirmed a working fire in a garage section with fire spreading into the house.
Crews advanced several hand lines to the garage section and also made an interior attack from the front door and roof of the residence.
Due to high temperatures and humidity, Nosal also requested additional manpower from surrounding departments. EMS personnel from Macungie Ambulance also were on the fire scene and staffed a rehab station for firefighters. EMS crews monitored firefighters’ vital signs and provided refreshments.
Residents were able to get out of the home and no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
