Robert A. Kline

Robert A. Kline, 69, of Whitehall, died Aug. 25, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospice House. He was the husband of Susan (Perich) Kline for 37 years.

He was a son of the late Clifford and Stella Kline.

The 1969 Whitehall High School graduate was a Hall of Famer as the football program’s single season and career rushing record-holder. He remains on the top-eight leader board in those categories. He was named to the Lehigh Valley League’s first team at both running back and linebacker and received all-state honorable mention for the 1968 season. He was a member of the school’s 1966 championship baseball team. He furthered his education and football career at Lock Haven University where he was first team All-PSAC as a running back in 1973.

He taught at Mosser Elementary School in the Allentown School District for 36 years. He was an elementary physical education teacher. He was a driver education teacher.

He was a high school football PIAA referee. He coached youth sports at various levels, including Whitehall High School’s club ice hockey team and its first championship in 2004.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher of Missoula, Mont., and Matthew of Dubuque, Iowa.

There will be a private family remembrance at a later date.
