Making new connections

The Community Action Development Corporation’s Greenway Farmer’s Market kicked off for the 2020 season, its first, on July 31 with six stands participating initially. Located between Polk and Webster streets, it will run on Fridays from 2 until 6 p.m. through Sept. 25. CADCB director Yadira Colon-Lopez said the market would grow each week during the event. “It’s a creative way to get our small business community on the Southside some exposure, given the current conditions,” said Colon-Lopez, who sees it as an opportunity to meet new people and make new connections. “They get exposure, there’s no middle man, and their business earns profits,”Colon-Lopez said, adding that community programs will also be added as the event expands. Patrons are reminded to wear masks and socially distance themselves when attending.
