Coplay Police Department reported the safeguards put in place at the new Coplay-Northampton Bridge have resulted in fewer traffic citations and motor vehicle accidents.
The four-way stop sign put in place at Front and Chestnut streets requires all motorists to come to a complete stop. Police said it is rare they have to issue a traffic citation for motorists running a stop sign.
Drivers are able to safely make a left turn from Chestnut Street to Front Street since a stop sign on Chestnut Street has been put in place.
