Catasauqua: Holy Trinity plans 2-day basket raffle

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Fourth and Pine streets, is hosting a basket raffle event 3-7 p.m. Aug. 28 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 29.

Winners will be notified by phone after the drawing Aug. 29. You do not have to be present to win.

Proceeds will benefit the church’s fund for children and youth and the pastor’s discretionary fund.

Catasauqua’s virtual summer concert series, presented by the borough and The Gas House Dance Hall, continues every Friday night.

Steel Creek will perform 8 p.m. Aug. 28.

Concerts are being livestreamed at facebook.com/CattyParkConcerts/live.

This event is a fundraiser for Catasauqua Community Food Bank. Donations can be mailed to Catasauqua Municipal Complex, 90 Bridge St., 18032, or viewers can click the Shop Now button on the concert page and donate through PayPal.

Holy Trinity is planning to hold its next monthly free community lunch 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Aug. 29.

Call the church office at 610-264-2641 from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays-Thursdays for more information.

The Catasauqua High School band and chorus have a performance tour March 30-April 3, 2021, in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

The band and chorus are selling hoagies and sandwiches from Island Expressions to help fund the trip.

This is an ongoing fundraiser. Orders go in on the first Tuesday of the month, with the next one being Sept. 1, and they come in the following Tuesday.

Catasauqua Garden Club will hold its next meeting 1 p.m. Sept. 2 at the George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets. The meeting will be outside to allow for social distancing; face masks should be worn.

Sue Kittick will discuss cooking with herbs. Exhibits will be welcome, but there will be no judging. There will be no snacks, but water will be provided.

This session is an opportunity to get out of the house safely and will offer a taste of creative use of herbs when cooking.
